Pidgin – Gaim’s new name – is a multi-protocol instant messaging client for Windows and Unix-like operating systems. It allows messages to be exchanged over various im networks, such as MSN, AIM, Jabber, ICQ and IRC. The developers have released a new version that should fix a hundred bugs and add support for Bonjour on Windows. The version number has arrived at 2.0.2 and includes the following announcement:

Pidgin 2.0.2 Released:

We’ve released version 2.0.2 of Pidgin (formerly Gaim). This is a bugfix release addressing about 100 bugs reported in 2.0.1, and also adding support for Bonjour on Windows. Keep those bugs coming in, and we’ll continue making regular, frequent releases.

Sean: Another big maintenance release. Again, about 100 tickets were resolved in this release, and they keep coming in. Lots of bug fixes, some minor icon adjustments, hopefully we addressed some ICQ internationalization issues, and support for Bonjour on Windows! Our next release will be 2.1.0, and will come with some great new features.

Stu: I think we’re gradually getting the hang of this 3 week thing again. This release includes yet more bug fixes. I’d also like to specifically thank Pekka Riikonen for the patch to enable using SILC Toolkit 1.1 with Pidgin/libpurple that is included in this release.[break]Pidgin 2.0.2 is available in the following four flavors:
Fedora Core
CentOS / RHEL
Windows
