Download Paint.NET 3.20 RC 1

After two alpha and two beta releases, it’s now the turn of the first release candidate of version 3.20 of Paint.NET. This free photo editing program started as a study project at Washington State University in collaboration with Microsoft and is being developed in C#, which means that the .NET Framework is required to run the program. Upgrading to this version can be done from within the program itself, or a 1.39 megabyte web installer can be installed this page are downloaded. This release has two bug fixes on board and is no longer only available in English, but has six additional translations on board. The full changelog therefore looks like this:

Changes in this release:

• Fixed: If a floating tool window (Colors, History, Layers, Tools) was not docked/snapped, and the screen resolution was lowered or a Remote Desktop session was initiated, then the window would stay off screen and be “lost”. It is now moved to keep it on screen.
• Fixed: An issue for plugin developers where Effect`1.Render(3) was incorrectly throwing an exception when indirectly called through Effect.Render(6). This was preventing an updated version of the “Film Noir” plugin from working, even though its code was correct.
• Integrated updated translations for Spanish, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), and Chinese (Simplified). An updated German translation will be present in the final release.
