Spread the love

There is a beta release of version 12.10 of Opera. This web browser is available for all major computing platforms and for a variety of mobile operating systems. In version 12.10, the browser has become faster, support for the latest versions of Windows and Mac OS X has been added, and the program looks better on very high-resolution screens. The complete release notes for this release can be found below.

Support for more speed

This latest version of Opera is faster than ever before, thanks to many performance optimizations. It also includes support for the SPDY (“Speedy”) network standard. SPDY was designed to cut down the time it takes for a webpage to load, while reducing some of the security risks posed by HTTP. Some of you favorite sitesincluding Gmail.com and Twitter.com, are already using SPDY.

Extensions, improved

Opera 12.10 includes a more robust and powerful API for URL filteringalong with three new APIs: Context Menu API, Screenshots API and Resource Loader API. These new APIs will allow developers to create even more engaging extensions for Opera users. Additionally, we are adding an extensions download-progress indicator, and, to make your browsing safer, only trusted sites will be able to install extensions.

Operating system compatibility: Windows 8 and Mac OS X

We have added basic touch support for Opera in Windows 8 Classic, so you will be able to scroll, zoom and browse pages and elements easily. As an added bonus, touch support also works on Windows 7.

Meanwhile, our Mac users will enjoy using the new capabilities of OS X Mountain Lion with Opera. You are now able to use Mountain Lion’s built-in share function, using the new Share button in Opera’s address bar, as well as see Opera notifications in the Notification Center.

High resolution display

We’re polishing Opera to make it shine in all high-resolution displays, including Apple’s new Retina Displays. That means you’ll get more out of the pictures you share, the videos you watch and the text you read on the web. See the difference for yourself!

New web standards support

Along with these new features, we are launching support for some new web standards including the Full screen API and the Page Visibility API. We are also updating our WebSockets standard implementation and enabling it by default. This will provide richer functionality to web developers and an improved experience for end users. In addition to all this, we are adding support for International Color Consortium profiles, which will make your images look even better, with more vibrant and accurate colors. Better site compatibility

In Opera 12.10, we’re now supporting unprefixed CSS properties for Gradients, Transitions, Animations and Transforms. To improve site compatibility and interoperability, Opera 12.10 also introduces aliasing for a selection of prefixed CSS properties.
