The developers of Openoffice.org released the first release candidate of version 3.0 a few days ago. This open source office package provides a word processor (Writer), a spreadsheet program (Calc), a presentation program (Impress), a drawing program (Draw) and a database program (Base). New in version 3.0 is, among other things, the Start Center and that the Mac OS X version no longer needs X11, but behaves like any other Aqua application. Furthermore, the package now supports version 1.2 of the Open Document Format and documents created with Microsoft Office 2007. The extensive list with changes includes the following list of new points:
