ESET has version 9.0 of NOD32 Antivirus and Smart Security released. Where the first only protects against viruses, spyware and rootkits, the second program also has a firewall and spam filter. A license NOD32 Antivirus costs 29.50 euros, while Smart Security costs 41 euros. However, if a license for several years and/or computers is purchased, the price per piece drops considerably. ESET has made the following improvements in version 9.0

What’s new in ESET Smart Security 9 and ESET NOD32 Antivirus 9?
ESET Smart Security 9 and ESET NOD32 Antivirus 9 include many new features such as a secure browser for banking and new licensing, and improvements such as an updated user interface and improved documentation. Continue reading below for an overview of the new and improved features. Version 9 now has native support of 64 bit code and is compatible with Windows 10 and its new security features.

Botnet Protection (Improved)
Network signatures allow fast identification and blocking of malicious traffic coming to and from your devices that are related to bots and exploit packs. This enhanced feature of Botnet Protection is added automatically to the Botnet Protection module and does not require any user interaction.

Banking and Payment Protection (New – Smart Security only)
Banking & Payment Protection ensures that all online transactions are protected in a trusted and secured environment. ESET Smart Security contains a built-in list of predefined websites that will trigger the ESET protected browser. The secured browser encrypts the communication between your keyboard and browser to provide additional security against keyloggers for banking transactions, entering credit card numbers and other sensitive personal data.

You can add a website or edit the list of websites in the Advanced setup screen (F5) →Web and Email →Banking & Payment protection. You can also open the secured browser directly from Home or Tools tabs in the ESET GUI, or by opening the installed application ESET Banking & Payment protection. Online Help (New)
The documentation included in version 9 has been updated to use ESET online help. The online help file will offer dynamically updated support content by pressing the F1 key or by clicking the question mark on each screen. If the system does not have Internet connectivity, the offline version of the help files will open.

GUI redesigned (New)
The Graphical User Interface (GUI) has been updated to match the new ESET product design. The new design provides better visibility to important information and a more intuitive user experience.

New Licensing (New)
The version 9 licensing model has changed. A License Key has replaced the username and password for activation. You can view your license details by pressing Ctrl + U on your keyboard, which will open the Details for Customer Care window. Your License Key is converted to and displayed as License ID to use for ESET support cases.

Firewall Troubleshooting Wizard
The troubleshooting wizard will guide you through the troubleshooting process to correct firewall issues with specific applications or devices. The wizard will suggest a new set of rules to be applied if you approve them. You can access the Troubleshooting wizard in the main menu under Setup → Network protection.
