Download NewsLeecher 3.9 beta 13

Version 3.9 beta 12 of Newsleecher was released on Tuesday, to be immediately followed on Wednesday by beta 13. Newsleecher is often considered one of the better of its kind and is intended for downloading binary files from newsgroups. For example, it has support for nzb files, it has a so-called ‘super search’ and can automatically check files for completeness and then extract them. Here’s what’s changed since beta 11:

Changes in version 3.9 beta 13:

• Fixed a bug introduced in yesterdays beta 12 release, which, under certain circumstances, prevented NewsLeecher from running properly.

Changes in version 3.9 beta 12:

• The old ‘explorer’ part of NewsLeecher has been replaced with a new and improved one. Many smaller bugs related to the integrated explorer have been fixed, and the explorer navigation has been made quicker, especially when navigating folders containing many files.
• Implemented a work-around for a bug in some 3rd party posting software, which resulted in NewsLeecher naming downloaded articles incorrectly.
• The ‘Delete’ key can now be used to delete entries from the Repair’n’Extract listview.
• The startup speed of NewsLeecher has been improved. Up to 100% under certain circumstances.
• Reworked the format of the NewsLeecher setup files. The new format will (hopefully) be less prone to file corruptions, and it will make NewsLeecher startup and closedown a bit faster. The upgrading process to the new format is fully automatic, but in case you want to downgrade to an earlier version of NewsLeecher later on, you should make a backup of your setup files before running this beta.
• Lots of smaller improvements.
• Fixed a bug that occasionally caused the NewsLeecher Repair’n’Extract feature to corrupt PAR split files.
