Download NewsBin Pro 6.01 build 1211 beta 5

The fifth beta release of NewsBin Pro version 6.01 has been released. NewsBin Pro is intended to retrieve files such as photos, movies and programs from usenet. These files can be downloaded in individual packets from one or more news servers and reassembled at the receiving end. Since version 6.00, the user interface uses tabs and there is a cache to memory option that, if a machine has plenty of memory, reduces constant access to the hard drive. Version 6.01 mainly contains bug fixes and minor improvements. Since beta 3, the following changes have been made:

Changes in version 6.01 beta 5 build 1211:

• Fixed issue displaying timestamps for XP systems.
• Fixed issue where the new Taskbar buttons go away and don’t come back when Newsbin is minimized and restored.
• Changed how sort works so, par-only sets sort in the correct size order.
• When posting two part posts, the CRC was getting generated incorrectly
• Fixed issue with TCP interface where it wouldn’t accept connections without enabling authentication first.

Changes in version 6.01 beta 4 build 1205:

• Fix for MemCache mode not freeing RAM during the course of the download
• If the Memory map fails (32 bits), file is still renamed even though autopar can’t process it. This should be very rare.
• Time and Date stamps now follow Windows guidelines
• Now defaults to tabs on bottom
• Change to taskbar icon – now reflects current state of the download, whether running or paused. Also shifted bot to the left so state icon doesn’t obscure him.(Win7 only)
• Added mode to delete the downloaded files when removing items from the download list. Prompt is optional
• TCP Interface Work:
  • Added progress for files in the download list
  • Download list will unlock if the client locks it then disconnects
  • Added an options tab
  • Added Authentication capability
  • Pause commands are disabled if Newsbin isn’t registered.
• Fixed a crash bug that can happen when deleting items from the download list that are currently downloading.
• Assembly mode in AutoPAR now keeps track of how complete the PARS are. For cases where header download are happening and the pars are currently incomplete.
• Now attempts an unrar if all the par files are bad.
• Added code to make sure not to send PAR notification to AutoPAR if the PAR is actually bad.
• Made change so non-expandable files don’t get an expansion icon in the download list.
• Fixed issue processing .XTM files. They actually have a header that wasn’t being processed correctly
• Fixed issue where a retry can mess up the ranges when autopar gets ahold of a set.
• Made changes to show unrar error messages in the download list
• No search results from Internet Search was popping up the critical message window
• Fixed performance problem when downloading really large files with very many parts.
• Installer now removes old nbpro.exe executable from Version 5 if it exists in the program files folder on upgrade
• Search on From field (Poster) now works. If results don’t appear to match what you searched then it’s probably spam.
