Download NewsBin Pro 6.00 build 961 beta 15

Beta 15 of NewsBin Pro version 6.00 has been released. This program is intended to retrieve files such as photos, movies and programs from usenet. These files can be downloaded in individual packets from one or more news servers and reassembled at the receiving end. In version 6.00, the user interface has been overhauled; it now uses tabs. There is also a Cache to Memory option which, if a machine has ample memory, reduces constant access to the hard drive. However, on machines with fewer resources, this can be turned off better. The changelog for this release looks like this:

Changes in version 6.00 Beta 15 Build 961:

• Fixed issue where ctrl-g or “Update Group” would do a “Update All Groups”.
• Added “Clear List” to the search menu.
• Fixed issue where Search History and Filter History were getting combined in same dropdown box
• Autopar: UnRAR to a temp folder and then move the file back. Fixed a problem with rar file name damaging other rars.
• Fixes to system tray icon:
  • Remove icon when exiting Newsbin
  • Icon wasn’t showing proper speed status when you dwelled over it
  • Once activated, tray icon was always shown in the tray.
• Peforming “Update All Groups” now downloads groups in top down order
• Fixed an issue in AutoPAR with purposely mis-named files. They weren’t repairing and unraring properly
• Fixed issue when using only one server, if set to fill, nothing would download.
• Fixed issue with tab label translations not sticking.
• Made changes to file and folder pickers trying to address random crash problems. Larger buffers and properly formatted “Filter” field.
• Made the progress bar for Search visible the first time it’s used.
• Ensure that an error is produced when if no servers are configured and you try to queue search results for download.
• Fixed problem with initial window re-size when starting from scratch.

Upgrade NOTES:

You will want to say “Yes” to the option to “Reset Version 6 GUI?” from the installer (delete workspace.xml) with this one.

Version 6 has a new storage format for headers. You have to manually invoke the conversion if you want to bring your 5.5x headers into V6. A new spool folder, SPOOL_V6 will be created for storing headers. To invoke the conversion, select a group or a bunch of groups in the Groups tab, right-click and select Post Storage, then choose “Import Version 5.XX Headers”. A progress screen will pop up and you’ll have to wait for it to finish before continuing.
