Download NewsBin Pro 6.00 Build 849 Beta 5

DJI Interprises is developing version 6.00 of NewsBin Pro and the fifth beta release has now been released. This program is intended to retrieve files such as photos, movies and programs from usenet. These files can be downloaded in individual packets from one or more news servers and reassembled at the receiving end. In version 6.0, among other things, the user interface has been overhauled and tabs are now used. The following changes have been made in this release:

Changes in version 6.00 Beta 5 Build 849:

• Swapped out a different GUI library. Has a slightly different look.
• You can choose to have tabs on the top or the bottom. Configure under View/Switch Tab Position
• Search and Post list tabs can be dragged around now. Allows you to create a single pane view if you like
• Installer is more streamlined and has improved UAC handling.
• Files are now downloaded into RAM and saved to disk when complete instead of being built on disk. Helps overcome disk I/O bottleneck. It is configurable, the default is 20MB. Files greater than that still get built on disk in .NB2 files. Details are in the text release notes distributed with the beta.

Upgrade NOTE:

Version 6 has a new storage format for headers. You have to manually invoke the conversion if you want to bring your 5.5x headers into V6. A new spool folder, SPOOL_V6 will be created for storing headers. To invoke the conversion, select a group or a bunch of groups in the Groups tab, right-click and select Post Storage, then choose “Import Version 5.XX Headers”. A progress screen will pop up and you’ll have to wait for it to finish before continuing.
