Download MusicBee 1.4 final / 2.0 beta

On Saturday, both a last stable release from the 1.4 series and the first beta of version 2.0 of MusicBee were released. MusicBee is a extensive and free program for managing and playing music. In a clean interface you can customize tags, download cover art and lyrics, convert files and rip audio CDs, and sync with a variety of MP3 players. Furthermore, the appearance is customizable and the functionality can be further expanded with bass plug-ins. The changelog of both releases can be found below.

MusicBee version 2 has started, with the following already done:

• Upgrade to .NET4 (benefits include better performance on lower spec computers)
• Enhanced organizer that now includes Video and Audiobook files
• Optional Video Support (playback and file organisation) via a plugin

• Upgrade the internal web-browser to the equivalent for Firefox 11 and above
• API enhancements (needed for the new Screen Saver plugin and others to come)
• Separate file buffer for WASAPI and ASIO playback when minimise stutter is enabled
• this allows the playback buffer to be kept as small as possible without affecting stuttering
• Playback of cuesheet files is now continuous (so playback is gapless for lossy encoded source album files)
• A number of usability, layout and organizer improvements will be done over the coming months
