Download Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.2
The developers of Mozilla have just released announced that Firefox 1.5.0.2 can be downloaded for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows, among others. Mozilla Firefox is the slim version of the open source browsers Mozilla Suite and SeaMonkey. The browsing program was previously known as Phoenix and Firebird, but because these names seemed almost identical to two other open source programs, Mozilla decided to change the name. Firefox makes browsing a lot easier thanks to the built-in popup blocker, the ability to browse using tabs and extend functionality through extensions. In addition, login details of forums and websites can also be saved, which are then automatically filled in with each visit to the page. Version 1.5.0.2 comes with some security updates, as well as some code tweaks to improve browser stability. The major update in the new Firefox is that the Mac OS X implementation of the web browser supports Apples Universal Binariesso it takes one OS X version of Firefox to run on both PowerPC and Intel Macs:
Firefox 1.5.0.2 provides native support for Macintosh Intel-based computers and stability and security enhancements that is part of our ongoing program to provide a safe Internet experience for our customers. We recommend that all users upgrade to this latest version.
Here’s what’s new in Firefox 1.5.0.2:
- Universal Binary support for Mac OS X which provides native support for Intel-based Macintosh computers. Firefox supports the enhancements to performance introduced by the new Mac Intel chipsets.
- Improvements to product stability.
- Several security fixes.
