Download Mozilla Firefox 1.0.1
Unverter draws our attention to a new release of Mozilla Firefox. The update has been given version number 1.0.1 and is from this server downloadable for Windows, Linux and MacOS X. The new browser version is mainly characterized by a number of security fixes and improved stability. Firefox is the slim version of the browser suite Mozilla and, unlike its big brother, consists only of a web browser that uses the Gecko engine. The program comes standard with, among other things, a popup blocker and a mini download manager. In addition, it is possible to surf via tabs and username-password combos can be filled in automatically. Posted below are the changes from the 1.0.1 release:
Here’s what’s new in Firefox 1.0.1:
- Improved stability
- International Domain Names are now displayed as punycode.
To show International Domain Names in Unicode, set the “network.IDN_show_punycode” preference to false. - Several security fixes.
[break]Update: There is another bug in this new version of Firefox that causes the browser to crash after entering some addresses in the address bar. This is caused by problems with the ‘autocomplete.xpt’ file in the ‘components’ directory of an earlier version of the program. Uninstalling Firefox first and then emptying the ‘components’ directory can prevent this problem. Installing the browser in a new directory also helps.
