Microsoft has through a press release the final version of Windows Media Player 11 announced and made available for the x86– and x64editions of Windows XP and Windows XP Media Center Edition. Windows Media Player plays most common media files and is able to use tags, rip music from CD and transfer files to a portable media player. Compared to the 10 branch, the new WMP 11 series has a new user interface, an improved library for managing photos, films and music and a so-called Sync tab for, among other things, putting music on portable media players. In addition, Microsoft and music channel MTV are trying to further market their own online music service Urge via Windows Media Player 11.
