Download Microsoft Photo Info 1.0
Microsoft has released a small tool with which Exif and metadata data of photos can be read and edited. This tool is baptized as Photo Info and can be used from this page be downloaded for the 32bit editions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. Photo Info shows the Exif information of photos as a tooltip – that is, by hovering over a photo file with the mouse pointer. However, the more specific information is hidden behind the ‘Photo Info’ option in the context menu, making it possible to add and edit metadata. Tweaker neographikal has not only mirrored the installation package of Photo Info on its site, but also posted a small review about how the program displays the information it finds. Microsoft describes its new tool as follows:
Microsoft Photo Info allows photographers to add, change and delete common “metadata” properties for digital photographs from inside Windows Explorer.
When installed, a new “Photo Info” item appears on the context menu for files selected in Windows Explorer. To use, simply select one or more image files, right-click and choose “Photo Info” to open the Photo Info properties editor. You can edit metadata for files individually, or all together as a batch. Photo Info reads and writes metadata in IPTC and XMP formats (depending on file type). It also provides enhanced “hover tips” and additional sort properties for digital photographs in Windows Explorer.[break]
