MediaWiki is a Wiki engine, released under the GPL license, that can be used to create and manage content. It is used, among other things, for the websites of the Wikimedia Foundation, such as Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Wikisource, Wikibooks and Wikiquote. The appearance can be completely adjusted to your own wishes with the help of skins, on this page are some examples of different skins. Version 1.6.6 has recently been released with the following release notes:

MediaWiki 1.6.6 is a security and bugfix maintenance release. An XSS injection vector in brace replacement has been fixed, as have some potential problems with table parsing. Upgrading is strongly recommended for all users of 1.6. MediaWiki versions 1.5 and earlier are not affected. Additionally some localization and user interface updates are included.
