Download MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC1

The first release candidate of MediaPortal was released on Saturday. With this program, a Windows machine can be used as the heart of the multimedia hardware in the living room. This makes it easy to listen to radio and music, watch videos and DVDs and record TV programs. By means of plugins and extensions, the functionality can be expanded and the ‘look & feel’ of the program can be adjusted.

In version 1.1, the old TV engine TVE2 has been completely abandoned. Furthermore, a clean installation now uses MySQL 5.1 instead of SQL Server, although the latter can still be used. This was done because MySQL requires less resources and also works fine under Windows 7. Below is an overview of the most important changes made after the beta release:

Major changes between 1.1.0 Beta 1 and RC1 are:

• New official MediaPortal Logo, Icons and DeployTool graphics created by Joost !
• Added NALU support to TsReader
  Now MediaPortal also supports:
  • Windows 7 DTV DVD codecs
  • divx h.264
  • MPC-HC VideoCodec (h.264) (the current version of this codec contains a deadlock bug – MPC.HC Team is working on a fix!)
• Added support for Apple AIFF Musc Format
• Added support for MIDI (*.mid, *.kar) file format
• Added VUMeter Support for skins
• Faster share browsing
• Integrated MP Tray
• Better overall usability
• Integrated CI menu in MyTV
• Support of ISO/IEC 10646-1(UTF-16) text encoding in DVB
• Added DVB-S2 modulation and DiseqC support for ProfRed cards
• Added DiseqC support for TeVii cards
• Added support for Freesat DVB EPG
• Added support for Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC3)
• Added support for GenPix DVB-S devices

Installation notes:

• install the Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package before you install 1.1.0 RC 1 !
• a present MediaPortal 1.0.x or 1.1.0 ALPHA/BETA installation can not be upgraded
• a present MediaPortal 1.0.x or 1.1.0 ALPHA/BETA installation will be uninstalled
  (No data will be lost, you will find MediaPortal_backup and TV-Server_backup folders which contain the plugins,skins and userfiles of the 1.0.x installations)
• refer to the upgrade guide if you are moving from an existing MediaPortal installation
• a present TV-Server database will be upgraded and can be reused
• do not reuse any skins, plugins, databases or configuration files from MediaPortal 1.0.x or 1.1.0 ALPHA/BETA with this Release Candidate!
