Download Media Portal 1.0 RC4

Today the fourth release candidate of Mediaportal 1.0 has been released. With Mediaportal, a Windows machine can be used as the heart of the multimedia hardware in the living room. This makes it easy to listen to radio and music, watch videos and DVDs and record TV programs. By means of plugins and extensions, the functionality can be expanded and the ‘look & feel’ of the program can be adjusted. Version 1.0 includes a completely new and self-developed module called TV server, which can be used to watch and record television. The differences with the old module can be this page are being found.

Another big change is the so-called Deploytool. This should make installing Mediaportal a lot easier. Deploytool ensures that the right modules are installed and it is also possible to choose a specific language. This does mean that an internet connection is required during installation. Since it is the intention that the final release will be found under the Christmas tree, this fourth release candidate can be expected to look a lot like the end result. Today we are proud to announce the release of MediaPortal 1.0 RC4. So what’s the current development progress?

The development of MediaPortal 1.0 is going extremely well and the latest svn revision is working very nicely.

The wide version of our new default skin named Blue3 is nearly finished and only needs some final polishing to which everyonean contribute by testing it.

As a result this release candidate will closely represent the final version of MediaPortal 1.0. When will MediaPortal 1.0 final be released?

This is the most exciting part of the news…

We will follow our “tradition” and release MediaPortal 1.0 final before Christmas 2008! What can the community do?

We need your help to find and fix still existing issues in MediaPortal and the TV-Server. If you find a bug please report it to the according forum section.

Besides we would be very happy to receive some help from the skinners among our community to help with the final polishing of Blue3 and Blue3 wide. If you want to help us with working on the Blue3 skin, please visit the Blue3 Feedback Forum.

As always we are happy to receive patches from our community developers.

If you want to send us an updated translation of MediaPortal, EPG grabber scripts, tuning details or movie information grabbers, please post them in the according to forums.
