Tuesday, after a series of betas, the final release of version 2.5.12 of the web browser Maxthon appeared. Maxthon is not a standalone browser, but a so-called wrapper, which is like a shell around Internet Explorer. The program uses IE’s internal engine to display the web pages, but has its own interface with all kinds of extra functionality, including mouse gestures and online bookmarks. The most important changes are listed below:

• New Installer UI
  The new installer UI is a breath of fresh air
• Maxthon SafeBox
  Confine browsing section in a safebox for protection against known and unknown vulnerabilities
• Crash Blocking
  Crash due to webpage errors are blocked with improved isolation technology employed in anti-freeze
• Privacy Mode
  Privacy Mode provides enhanced privacy by leaving no trace
• URL Safety
  URL Safety has been revised. Genuine URL will be highlighted in Green. Potentially harmful URL will be highlighted in red. Normal URL is not highlighted. An icon is added for convenient reporting of malicious URL.
  In addition to the red address bar highlight when potentially harmful URL is visited, warning will also be provided.
