Version 2 of Maxthon may have been out for a while, but it shows that the 1.x branch isn’t being abandoned just yet. Today version 1.6.3 build 80 of the ‘classic’ Maxthon has been released. Maxthon is a so-called ‘wrapper’, a shell around Internet Explorer. It uses the IE engine to build the pages, but has its own interface with all kinds of extra functionality, such as browsing using tabs, mouse gestures (using the mouse in a convenient way to control the program) , and has a popup and ad blocker. Furthermore, through the Maxthon Resource Center additional functionality will be added and the appearance will be adjusted. Maxthon can be downloaded in the well-known flavors Combo or Standard, where the difference is in the number of plugins and skins that are included. Below are all the changes made to the 1.x series since the previous entry in the junk tracker:

• Added Auto suggest in search box. Enable/Diable it at Maxthon Options->Search.
• Added Option to use old style multiple search (Maxthon Options->Search)
• Fixed a resize problem under Vista
