Download Max 0.5
Max is an application for the Mac OS X platform that allows you to convert a music CD into audio files in MP3, FLAC or Ogg Vorbis format. It uses, among other things, the encoders LAME, libVorbis, libFLAC and Core Audio to compress the music and it can fill in the artist and titles for you with the help of FreeDB. Stephen F. Booth has released version 0.5 with the following changes:
New features:
- Audio can be generated from pre-existing files in addition to CDs
- Multiple CD tracks can be encoded to a single file
- AAC/Apple lossless files are now tagged with metadata
- VBR mode enabled for AAC encoder
- Parameters for FLAC/Ogg FLAC encoders are configurable
- User-friendly interface added for MP3 encoder
- Simultaneous audio extraction from multiple CD drives now possible
- Integrated with Services menu to allow encoding from other applications
bug fixes:
- Fixed multithreaded issue in logger that caused crash if log saved during active ripping/encoding
- Fixed bug where track selection checkbox could stay disabled when rip was stopped
Known issue:
- iTunes still displays numbers instead of strings for genres (due to mishandling of ID3v2.4 tags)
- Not all output formats are tagged with metadata
