Maven is released under the Apache license and is focused on managing Java-based projects. For example, the build process is made simpler and uniform, it contains numerous options for collecting and exchanging project information and advice is given based on ‘best practices’. It requires an environment with Sun’s JDK version 1.4 or later and if you are using a Windows version for NT, a Cygwin environment is also required. Changes that may affect existing builds:

• MNG-3118 – Test-classes should come before classes in the classpath. This may slightly alter behavior of tests. The test-classes is now included first in the classpath to allow test resources to override normal runtime ones.
