Download MAME 0.116

Last Monday, with version number 0.116 and nicknamed ‘Donkiest Kong in the world with sound’, a new version of MAME was released. MAME stands for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator and this program is able to emulate a large amount of old arcade games and consoles. In addition to the ‘regular’ version, there is, as usual, also a version optimized for the Pentium Pro processor, because this CPU is good enough to run the Arcade games and is therefore popular among MAME users. Version 0.116 has support for 6677 rom sets, of as many as 3616 unique games. The changelog of this release shows the following changes:

  • Implemented discrete sound from schematics: dkong, radarscp
  • Implemented discrete background from schematics for radarscp and various effects:
    • blue to black to blue background
    • exact priorities
    • Grid will flip open and close, vertical flipping on hit.

• Fixed up a number of places where malloc results weren’t being checked correctly.
• Renamed palette_set_color() to palette_set_color_rgb().
  palette_set_color() now matches palette_get_color() and deals in rgb_t data only. Also changed palette_set_colors() to deal with rgb_t data instead of R,G,B triples.
• Flattened colormap and palette in the 1942 driver.
• Removed usage of unsigned char/short/int from the drivers code in favor of UINT8/UINT16/UINT32.
