Download LyX 2.0.0 beta 2
LyX is a document layout system that is mainly used in academia, because it can easily build formulas and show an overview of the document structure. Unlike regular word processors, such as Microsoft Word, AbiWord and OpenOffice.org Writer, which use the wysiwyg principle, LyX uses wysiwym, as is also used in TeX/LaTeX and DocBook. For more information, we refer you to this page† The developers have released the second beta version of LyX 2.0.0 with the following announcement:
Beta Release: LyX 2.0.0 beta 2 released.
We are pleased to announce the second public pre-release of LyX 2.0.0. Due to the many reports we received, support for polyglossia, XeTeX’s new language interface and babel replacement, has been added. In the same vein we added basic and experimental support for LuaTeX as well.
Smaller changes to be highlighted are:
- better support for sub/superscripts
- externally launched documents are now possible to load in an already running LyX instance
- TikZ and PSTricks support in instant preview insets
- context menu handling.
We are grateful for any feedback you sent us regarding the bugs you encounter while testing the beta release.
LyX 2.0.0 will be culmination of more than two years of hard work and you can find an overview of the new features here†
Please note that this release is for testing purposes only, users are encouraged to use current 1.6 stable release for any serious work.
Source tarballs can be found at our ftp server. Binaries should follow soon.
