Local Cooling is a small program for Windows XP that responds to the energy saving trend: the software keeps track of how many trees, oil and electricity a computer has saved. To indicate how much energy has been saved so far, Local Cooling estimates how much power the computer consumes. Local Cooling takes over the energy-saving function of Windows XP. In the program it can be specified after which period of inactivity the monitor(s), the hard disk(s) and the computer should be switched off. Unfortunately, Local Cooling does not have Tweak-worthy functions such as switching down the fsb and lowering the fan speed.

The latest version of Local Cooling has been given version number 1.04 beta and can be accessed by clicking this link be downloaded for Windows XP. The program is described by the developers as follows:

From the Local Cooling Application you are directly presented with detailed information on how much power your PC is consuming based on a large database of hardware and in-depth research.

By adjusting the power mode settings our advanced algorithms will predict how much you will save based on past PC usage and statistical data. Every time LocalCooling saves power by either turning of your screen, putting your hard drive to sleep when not used or shutting down your PC when you are away your savings stats will start to grow.[break]
