Spread the love

Version 3.6 of the Linux Kernel has been released. The kernel is the heart of the operating system and, simply put, it sits as a layer between the hardware and the applications. New in this release is hybrid sleep. This saves the contents of the memory to the hard drive before going out, so that even if the power is removed from the machine, the system can return to its previous state. Btrfs now has support for quotas on sub-volumes, improvements have been made to kvm virtualization, and Google’s experimental tcp extension has been added. More information about the improvements in this release can be found at Kernel newbies, The H and on our own front page.
