Download Knoppix 3.8 Cebit Edition
Klaus Knopper distributed his latest version of his Linux distribution Knoppix at CeBIT 2005. This concerned version 3.8, which can now be downloaded from this server† This Debian-based operating system must be burned to a bootable CD and can then be booted from the compact disc. Almost all hardware is automatically detected at startup. Because no data can be written to CD, it is possible to put data on a memory or USB stick. Knoppix 3.8 runs on Linux kernel 2.6.11 and uses KDE 3.3.2, OpenOffice.org 1.1.4, Mozilla Firefox 1.0, and Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0, among others. More information about this new version can be found in this article from the German Heise Online.
