Download KDE Software Compilation 4.4.1

The first update for version 4.4.0 of the KDE Software Compilation was released on Tuesday. This popular desktop environment used to be known as the K Desktop Environment, but the developers now believe that KDE Software Compilation covers the load better. KDE is primarily developed for Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris, but there are versions for it too Windows and Mac OS X. It comes with a standard desktop, including fifteen packages of applications, including a personal information manager, multimedia and network management programs, and games. Below are the main improvements made in this release:

KDE SC 4.4.1 has a number of improvements:

• A performance problem in KMail when sending emails has been fixed
• Various fixes in Plasma widgets and other addons, such as the analog clock and the picture frame
• A number of fixes in Konsole, KDE’s powerful terminal application

the changelog lists more, if not all improvements since KDE SC 4.4.0.
