Download Kantaris Media Player 0.7.1

Version 0.7.1 of Kantaris Media Player has been released. This media player is based on VLC Media Player, but adds some extras, including plug-in support and integration with Apple’s Last.fm and movie trailers. In addition, it has its own appearance and visualizations, plays rar archived media files without having to extract them first, and can search for subtitles from within the program. The subtitles can also be synchronized.

Plugins and Bug Fixes

Version 0.7.1 has been released! Version 0.7.0 never worked like it was supposed to because there where unfortunately too many bugs. Therefor we have spent much time to test this release so that not the same would happen again. A new thing in this release is the concept of plugins. Everything that isn’t directly connected to the playing media has been moved to plug-ins, that include the Movie Trailers, Video Library and Playlist.com Music Search. These plug-ins are no longer included but can easily be downloaded and installed from inside the player. Also there are 3 new plugins that are available for download.

• Goear – search and play music from the Spanish Goear music service.
• Podcasts – access a large database of popular pocasts, both video and audio.
• SongSearch – Find music using Baidu’s music search.

These plug-ins may still be a little buggy but now that they are separate from the main code we are hoping that some people will volunteer to take over development and maintenance of them. We will release the source code of the current plugins in a couple of days and also documentation on how to make new plugins.
