Version 2.1 beta of IsoBuster was released yesterday. IsoBuster specializes in reading bad or damaged CDs and DVDs, and in many cases can still recover files that Windows no longer recognizes. Another strength of IsoBuster is that it can read almost any conceivable CD or DVD image format, such as *.iso, *.bin, *.img, *.ccd and *.nrg. The program is largely free, only some advanced features are only accessible to registered users. More information about this is on this page to find. No big changes in this release but, as the creators themselves stated, it might just be something you’ve been dying for:

• Added font recognition (eg true type) during the scan for missing files based on file signatures.

improvements:

• Work around for bad behaving drives that return a start address other than 0, for the first track on a DVD-R, using certain commands (eg seen with LITEON DVD-ROM LTD 163)
• Work around for bad behaving drives that return a track length of 0, for tracks on DVD-R, using certain commands (eg seen with HL-DT-ST GDR8162B (fw 0015))
• Updates, content and translations, in Help, Installer and Program resources.
• Various graphical improvements for VISTA. Text cut due to window width, flickering of progress bar etc.
• Various smaller improvements.
