Download Inno Setup 5.1.0 beta

Spread the love

Jordan Russell and Martijn Laan have released a new beta version of Inno Setup and have given it 5.1.0 as the version number. This program makes it easy to put together installation packages. The program provides the ability to add information to the registry and ini files, create shortcuts, and compress the installation files. Furthermore, an uninstaller can also be created and the installation can be made available in several languages. The changelog is up this place to read and the release notes look like this:

Inno Setup version 5.1.0-beta has been released

The major new feature in this beta release is initial support for the installation of 64-bit applications on 64-bit versions of Windows (AMD64, IA64).

This new functionality was developed and tested on AMD64 hardware running the RC2 x64 Edition releases of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. We do not foresee compatibility issues with IA64 hardware, but we haven’t (yet) done any testing on that platform. Please let us know about your experiences.

The 64-bit support is still a work in progress; there are some known limitations that we plan to address in the near future. See the “64-bit Installation Limitations” topic in the help file for details.

Purchase of the AMD64 hardware used for development has been made possible by our kind donors; many thanks to them! If you also appreciate our continued development efforts, please consider supporting the project by donating.

Thanks in advance!
