BolideSoft, known for the film catalog program All My Movies, released version 3.5 build 708 of Image Comparer on Wednesday. As the name suggests, this program can compare images to find duplicates, for example. You might say nothing special in itself, but this program also finds duplicates that have a different size, resolution or even format. It indicates in percentage how likely it is that one image is the same as another. Image Comparer can handle jpeg, j2k, bmp, gif, pcx, png, tiff, tga, ico and cur. The changelog for this release shows the following changes:

Added:

• Displaying comparison results as a tree. You can switch display mode using menu item “Compare-View results as”
• “Do not compare in the same folder” option to the Preferences
• Option to create gallery much faster (using embedded thumbnails) but a bit roughly
• Option to display high quality thumbnails (slower loading)
• French translation

Fixed:

• Now default parameters are optimized to the fastest processing
• RAW format processing. Now it’s 2x faster at least
