SurfRight has released a beta release of HitmanPro. HitmanPro can remove viruses, spyware, Trojan horses, rootkits and other forms of malware. By smart scanning and using cloud computing, the software performs a complete scan in often no more than a few minutes. To remove infections, the program must be activated. A free key can be requested the first time, but a new key must be purchased after 30 days. Among other things, this release adds support for Windows 8 and can also scan for potentially unwanted programs. The full changelog looks like this:

• Windows 8 RTM support.
• Scan and clean registry of unloaded user profiles.
• Scan for Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUP). Default action is Ignore.
• Settings for Potentially Unwanted Programs.
• Action to hide Potentially Unwanted Program family.
• Apply actions to items of same malware family or classification.
• Reset Settings to revert to default settings, reset reported false positives and ignored items.
• Command line switch /logtype=txt|xml.
• Command line switch /nopups. Note: /noremnants implies /nopups.
• Application exits with code 7 when a license error has occurred.

Fixed:

• Command line /quiet /lic= no longer show message box when activation has failed.
• On some systems the scan for remnants never ended due to malformed NTFS record.

• Removal of new ZeroAccess CLSID variant.
