HelenOS is written by a number of employees and students of the mathematics and physics faculties at the Charles University in Prague with the aim of developing a modern operating system. Much attention is paid to supporting symmetric multiprocessing and multitasking on multiple hardware platforms such as IA-32, IA-64, x86-64, ARM, PowerPC and Sparc V9.
