Download GTK+ 2.15.0

The developers of The GTK+ Project have notified via email that the first development version of the 2.15 branch of GTK+ has been released. GTK+ is a toolkit written in C for creating graphical user interfaces. The first ‘development release’ of the new branch can be downloaded from this ftp folder and is placed under the GNU LGPL 2.1license made available. The GTK+ 2.0.15.0 release notes look like this:

Notes:

• This is the first development release in the 2.15 cycle. It has had only little testing and there are unfinished features and plenty of bugs in this release. It should definitely not be used in production.
• Installing this version will overwrite your existing copy of GTK+ 2.14. If you have problems, you’ll need to reinstall GTK+ 2.14.
• GTK+ 2.16 will be source and binary compatible with the GTK+ 2.14 series; however, the new API additions are not yet finalized, so there may be incompatibilities between this release and the final 2.16 release. Among the API additions that are still under consideration for 2.16 are:

  • 560228 Add “action-controller” property to GtkWidgetClass
  • 553573 Add orientation API to GtkBox
  • 553582 Add orientation API to GtkSeparator
  • 553585 Add orientation API to GtkRuler
