Download Grabit 1.7.2 beta 2

Ilan Shemes has released the second beta release of Grabit 1.7.2. This program is able to download files from newsgroups. Files that are split into several small files are automatically merged into the original file. Grabit is free to use, but only registered users have unlimited access to the Grabit Usenet Search and Grabit Usenet Browser, with more search results and a longer history. New in version 1.7.2 is support for ssl connections, the speed of decoding has been greatly improved and a lot of time has been spent on fixing bugs. Here’s what’s changed since the first beta:

The changes since GrabIt 1.7.2 beta (1) are:

• Increased the maximum number of connections per server to 32 again;
• BUGFIX: Added msvcr71.dll to the installation folder;
• BUGFIX: Fixed the missing threads scrollbar on lower screen resolutions;
• GrabIt now defaults to smaller icons for the toolbar (can be changed: Edit->Preferences->Visual->Use small icons);
• Pruning of cache files now happens in the background;
• Removed BNS support from GrabIt as the format is no longer in use;
• Tweaked the new decoder code to improve large file performance.
