Google has released an update to the previously released 2.0.157.0 release of Chrome. The development branch of Google’s browser is now version number 2.0157.2 and has been cleaned of two bugs that caused Chrome to crash at random. Chrome is baked in such a way that each tab is run in its own process and can be used as a desktop application. Furthermore, the web browser is equipped with its own Javascript engine. Compared to the 1.0 series, the 2.0 branch has a number of new features. The browser is equipped with form autocomplete, full-page zoom and the use of profiles. The release notes of Chrome 2.0.157.2 are described as follows:

We’re releasing 2.0.157.2 to fix a couple of very frequent crashes in this release. One crash is in SafeBrowsing and may happen at any time, the other is a crash when you go to sites that use custom cursors (like Google Maps).
Bug Fixes:

  • [r7891] Fixes a crash related to Safe Browsing and our handling of SQLite(Issue: 6312)
  • [r8034] Fixes a cursor related issue that was causing maps.google.com to crash (Issue: 6259)
