Download Google Chrome 2.0.156.1 Pre-Beta
Google has put the first public version of Chrome 2.0 online in the form of a pre-beta. This first version can be recognized by version numbering 2.0.156.1 and can be downloaded via the ‘developer preview channel‘ are downloaded. Chrome is baked in such a way that each tab is run in its own process and can be used as a desktop application. Furthermore, the web browser is equipped with its own Javascript engine. Compared to the 1.0 series, the 2.0 branch has a number of new features. For example, the new browser is equipped with form autocomplete, full-page zoom and the use of profiles. Highlights of This Release
- New version of WebKit, with lots of fixes and new features like CSS gradients and reflections.
- Newnetwork code. Google Chrome now has its own implementation of the HTTP network protocol (we were using the WinHTTP library on Windows, but need common code for Mac and Linux).
- Form Autocomplete.
- Full page zoom.
- Autoscroll (rough implementation). Middle-click on a page to scroll the page in any direction.
