Download Gnome 2.27.1

The developers of Gnome have released a new unstable build in version 2.27.1 put online. This version in the development branch of the desktop manager is used to fix bugs in the software and test new features, which will be found in the next stable branch of Gnome. The next stable version of the desktop manager will get version number 2.28 and will be released in September released. Below are the release notes for Gnome 2.27.1. Today marks the beginning of our trip towards 2.28, with the first development release of this cycle. It’s also our first release after our git migration and it seems we survived, yay! Looking at the changes in the various tarballs, the trend to remove libgnome* and libglade dependencies is still going on. Which hopefully means it will stop soon (when all modules will have been migrated). There are quite a few patches waiting in bugzilla for this, which is a good sign! Everybody keep an eye on the targets that were set for each release — see the last column at http://www.gnome.org/start/unstable/

To compile GNOME 2.27.1, you can the jhbuild [1] module sets [2] (which use the exact tarball versions from the official release):
