Download GIMP 2.99.18
Version 2.99.18 of the open source photo editing program GIMP has been released, a development version that will eventually lead to version 3.0. The name GIMP is an abbreviation for 'GNU Image Manipulation Program'. The software is available for various operating systems, including Windows, FreeBSD, Linux, macOS and Solaris. However, due to a lack of manpower, the development of the macOS version is lagging behind. Version 3.0 will see the move to GTK3, xcf files can now be larger than 4GB, and can use multicore processors more efficiently. The release notes for this release can be found below.
GIMP 2.99.18 Released: The Last Development Preview Before 3.0!
At long last, we bring you the final development version before GIMP 3! While the release of 2.99.18 is a bit behind our intended schedulethere are a number of new features and improvements that we're very excited to share with you.
We remind that a development version means that this is a release to show work-in-progress but also give an opportunity to the community to detect issues early and report issues. In other words, this is an unstable version and we do not recommend to use it in production. Use it because you want to help GIMP improve by reporting bugs.
This version 2.99.18 in particular might be one of the most unstable releases in the 2.99 series because of the space invasion. It is expected and normal.
