Griffin Technology has a new version of Final Vinyl for owners of a iMic prepared with 2.1.1 as the version number. With this program LPs and cassette tapes can be digitally recorded in a simple way. The program has a number of advanced techniques such as waveform based cue editing and a built-in 10-band EQ. Since version 2.1, only Mac OS X 10.4 or later is supported. The list of changes looks like this:
Version 2.1.1:
- Added text fields to the EQ filter to show the numerical value of the sliders.
- Implemented a text message to indicate when recording is active.
- Increased the size of the time text view.
- Fixed bug with saving 32bit AIFF files.
- Fixed bug where turning off playthru while recording would confuse Final Vinyl.
- Added Appcasting via Sparkle.
Version 2.1:
- Added support for 11 Apple AudioUnit filters.
- Added SimpleFade filter.
- Added Volume filter.
- Implemented Cut/Copy/Paste via Edit menu.
- Implemented \”Insert Silence…\” action menu item.
- Implemented \”Normalize\” action menu item.
- Added support for any native AudioUnit. however, not all AudioUnits are created equal!
- Added basic level meters via clicking on \”Clip\” in the main window.
- Implemented adding a filter to a selected portion of audio.
- Added ability to add multiple instances of the same filter.
- Real-time filters can be applied and written to disk.
- Marks can be moved/adjusted in the editor view.
- Exporting now displays export progress and can be cancelled.
- Waveform is now built during recording instead of after.
- Waveform is also built while filters are being applied and progress is displayed.
- More actions undoable.
- Reduced waveform points (again) to improve draw performance.
- Scratch directory location can be customized.
- The first undo does not require a waveform re-build.
- Paste no longer requires a waveform rebuild.
- Sets the hardware gain (when available) to maximum.
- Supports different audio input formats (set in Audio MIDI Setup.app, for instance).
- Waveform selection is now restricted to audio frame sizes.
- Remembers the last selected EQ type in the EQ filter.
- Generally more robust.
- Universal Binary (PowerPC and Intel).
- Localization support, and Japanese localization implemented.
- 10.4 required (apologies to 10.3 users!).
- Numerous bug fixes.
- Fixes a bug that occurred when playing a sound file while zoomed all the way in on a waveform.
- Fixes a problem with dragging and dropping a file on Final Vinyl.
- More reliable under higher CPU loads.
