DVDFab Software is known to many visitors to the Meuktracker for DVDFab, a program for ripping, copying and converting movies from DVD or Blu-ray. From the same maker comes Passkey, which installs a driver that removes protection from DVDs or Blu-rays on the fly. That way it is no longer necessary to rip to the hard drive first. DVDFab Passkey is available in the flavours Lite, for DVD and for Blu-ray. The first is free, but only able to bypass “simple” protections. The other two sell for forty and sixty dollars respectively. Version 8.0.1.5 of Passkey was released on Wednesday, but because this is the first time that the program has been featured in the Meuktracker, here’s a longer changelog:
