Drupal 7.0 RC 2 Released
We are proud to present to you the second release candidate of Drupal 7.0. Although there are still a few known issues that we are working on fixing, we are confident that our code is stable enough for wider testing by the community. Since the last release candidate two weeks ago, we have fixed upgrade path bugs, improved styling in the default “Bartik” theme, numerous bug fixes and improvements to strings, and fixed a critical bug preventing default Views from working. For the full list of changes, see the release notes.
The first alpha announcement provided a list of high level improvements made since Drupal 6.x, so in this announcement we’ll concentrate on how you can help ensure that Drupal 7 is released as soon as possible and is as rock solid as the previous Drupal releases that you’ve grown to love!
There are a number of modules already ported to Drupal 7 for your testing pleasure. You can keep tabs on whether or not your site is ready for Drupal 7 by using the Upgrade Status module. If you are a translator, now is the time to start working on your translations. If you are a module or theme maintainer, now is the time to start working on the update to Drupal 7!

Note that Drupal 5 will no longer be maintained when Drupal 7 is released. Upgrading to Drupal 6 is recommended. The latest Drupal 7 development version is Drupal 7 RC2.
The full list of changes between the 6.19 and 6.20 releases can be found by reading the 6.20 release notes. A complete list of all bug fixes in the stable DRUPAL-6 branch can be found at http://drupal.org/project/cvs/3060/?branch=DRUPAL-6.
Given enough bug fixes (not just bug reports) more maintenance releases will be made available.
Update notes
The robots.txt file was changed in this release to allow for uploaded files in /sites/ to be indexed by search engines. See for more information. The release did not change the .htaccess and (default.)settings.php files however, so you can keep your existing files intact, if you have modifications in them.
