Download Dropbox 1.7.5 experimental

A new development version of Dropbox has been released. Dropbox is an online storage service that makes it possible to synchronize files between different computers. In addition, files and photo albums can be shared with people who don’t have Dropbox accounts. Clients are available for Windows, Linux, OS X, iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Mobile.

A free account gives access to 2GB of storage, with the option to expand it by introducing new users. For ten, twenty or fifty dollars a month, that’s 100, 200 or 500GB respectively. In that version 1.7.5 we find, among other things, a new pop-up screen, which can provide information about important events from the system tray.

Experimental Feature Build – 1.7.5

Introducing a shiny new feature: a new tray popup that combines the old tray menu features with a timeline of the most important sharing events in your Dropbox. For instance, if someone shares a link with you, you can now see it immediately! Moreover, if someone shares a folder with you, you can now accept or decline the invitation directly from your desktop. Not only are you notified of these events in real time, but you can easily get to them later. Also, files recently edited are made available so you can easily view or share them.

This is a brand new feature and we’re just getting started! As such, we’re looking for your feedback (and bugs!) while we iron things out.

Note: You will have to restart Finder for the changes to take effect. (killall Finder in a Terminal should do the trick).

Fixes in 1.7.5

• Reintroduce the “Recently Changed” feature to the new Tray Popup.
• Various performance improvements in the Tray Popup feature.
• Other small fixes.

Here are a few things you should know:

• This feature is not yet localized in languages ​​other than English.
• It is only enabled on Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and above, and on Windows XP and above.
• It is not yet enabled on Linux.
