GPSoftware has released version 11.7 of its Directory Opus file manager. This program is in a way similar to Total Commander, but with more extensive options about exactly what information should be displayed and how. The program nestles deep into Windows and is therefore more intended as a replacement for Windows Explorer.

Directory Opus is versatile and extremely configurable, both in functionality and appearance. That is also the biggest problem, because the program can certainly appear complex to novice users. Directory Opus runs on Windows XP and above, and is available in a 32-bit and a 64-bit version. The program can be tested for 30 days; after that, a license of 89 Australian dollars has to be purchased, which comes down to just under 65 euros. Since version 10.2, there is also a less extended version, for about 35 euros. The changelog for version 11.13 looks like this:

This update includes all the changes in the 11.12.x betas:

Additionally, it includes the following fixes:

  • Fixed problem translating some toolbar strings from one language to another.
  • Tabs are now converted to spaces when pasting text into the Create Folder dialog.
  • Fixed issue with EXIF image tags only displaying the last one entered.
