Download Directory Opus 10.0.4.0

GPSoftware has released version 10.0.4.0 of its file manager Directory Opus. This program is in a way similar to Total Commander, but much more extensive. Directory Opus once debuted on the Commodore Amiga platform, where it was particularly popular in the early 1990s. In 1994, developer Jonathan Potter teamed up with Greg Perry and GPSoftware has been releasing the program ever since.

Directory Opus is versatile and extremely configurable, which is also its biggest problem, as the program can certainly seem complex to novice users. Directory Opus runs on Windows XP and above and is available in a 32-bit and a 64-bit version. The program can be tested for 60 days; after that a license of 85 Australian dollars has to be purchased, which amounts to about 62 euros. The release notes for version 10.0.4.0 look like this:

• 10.0.3.1 (60 changes)
• 10.0.3.2 (53 changes)
• 10.0.3.3 (22 changes)
• 10.0.3.4 (9 changes)

The update also includes the following new changes:

• Fix for problems recursively creating directories on network shares which return a non-standard error value when checking the share root itself. This could prevent Opus from running at all if the user-profile was on a UNC path pointing at such a server.
• Styles which change folder and set columns would not properly enable the new columns if the starting location was My Computer.
