Download Daemon Tools 4.0
The long awaited version 4.0 of Daemon Tools has just been released. This program can mount an image file from a CD or DVD as a virtual drive. This way, as a glorified disc jockey, you don’t have to constantly change CDs or DVDs, there is less background noise and you generally have faster access to data. Version 4.0 has been rebuilt from the ground up and still only supports up to four virtual drives. Furthermore, the name of the driver and manufacturer are generated randomly in an attempt to bypass the security of some programs. Another less pleasant change is that the program is now released as adware, although the Daemon Tools search bar is optional. The full changelog looks like this:
Changes from Daemon Tools 3.47 to Daemon Tools 4.00:
- complete redesign from scratch
- support of 4 virtual drives
- ONLY X32 supported now. X64 will follow
- Drivername randomly generated on each machine (not finished yet)
- Drive vendor and version number randomly generated
- Complete new emulation architecture
- DCP (DaemonCodeProtect) to make analyzes harder and increase development time for malicious anti-DT tools
- Digital signature verification of applications who are trusted to access DT in secure mode
- AutoInsertNotification fully implemented (can be turned on/off at ControlPanel)
- Dropped: MS-Installer, DT now use modified NullsoftInstaller
- Dropped: analog sound support (as Windows 2000 and above do not need this feature)
- supports all popular copy protections
