Creative has not only released new drivers, but also the accompanying Alchemy software to provide of an update. The program has arrived at version 1.00.11 and can be done by clicking this link be downloaded for both the 32bit and 64bit editions of Windows Vista.

Alchemy ensures that the ‘environmental audio extensions’ effects can be processed in Vista. Microsoft has rewritten the audio stack in Windows Vista, so games that use DirectSound cannot demand hardware-accelerated 3D sound from the sound card. For this reason, Creative has developed the program Alchemy, which converts DirectSound calls to openAL-calls. This allows Sound Blaster X-Fi and Audigy sound cards to be fully utilized by Vista.

This download is an application for Creative Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ series of audio devices. It restores 3D audio and EAX® effects for certain DirectSound®3D games in Microsoft® Windows Vista™.

Fixes:

• Enables the DirectSound3D game audio to be processed by your Sound Blaster X-Fi to deliver EAX effects, 3D audio spatialization, sample rate conversion and hardware audio mixing. Without this, most DirectSound3D games will be reduced to stereo output without any EAX effects.
