Clonezilla is an open source program that can be used to create disk images. It is possible, among other things, to make backups of partitions or of the entire hard drive, or a copy of a hard drive: a so-called clone. Clonezilla is therefore an open source variant of Macrium Reflect and Acronis True Image. The whole thing is based on a Debian distribution and it uses DRBL, Partclone and udpcast. Clonezilla live is intended for separate computers, while with Clonezilla server and SE, up to forty computers can be imaged simultaneously. A new stable release of Clonezilla has been released with version number 3.1.2-9 and the changelog of that version looks as follows:

Enhancements and changes

  • The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2024/Jan/16).
  • Linux kernel was updated to 6.6.11-1.
  • Package ezio was updated to 2.0.8.
  • Show Clonezilla live version in grub netboot in the lite client.
  • Show the massive deployment mode in the boot menu of netboot clients.
  • ocs-ezio-leecher: Use Ezio simple output mode when the terminal is smaller than 80×24.
  • The netboot files will be modified only at stopping when the client is using netboot.
  • Language file hu_HU was updated.
  • Memtest86+ was updated to v7.00.

Bug fixes

  • A better mechanism learned from newer Debian to load unifont in Debian. This should solve the issue blocked by grub security policy when loading fonts. Hence the graphic background will be shown in secure boot mechanism. Thanks to Rainer Friedrich for asking this. Ref
  • ocs-prep-cache: fixed testing wrong file name.
