The fifth beta build of Central Brain Identifier version 8.0 has just been released. The full version number is out on 8.0.0.5 build 0508 R5 and the download is here to find. The program recognizes more than seventy models of AMD processors and displays detailed information such as core name, revision and voltage, frequency, rating, cache and PowerNow technology. In addition, it is also able to perform some tweaks with regard to, for example, the L1 cache, the Clock Control Register and the memory timings. New in this release is the ability to adjust the HyperTransport clock frequency. The release notes have the following to say about it:

The fifth Release of Central Brain Identifier 8.0 has been announced! The current version incorporates a long awaited function to change a HyperTransport clock frequency. Now, if your system board is based on VIA, nVidia or AMD chipset you can change the HT frequency on the fly without any system restart! Accessible steps are 100MHz, 200MHz, 400MHz, 600MHz, 800MHz and 1000MHz! CBId doesn’t use any tricks, it conforms to the HyperTransport Specification only. In addition, you can change a HyperTransport width too.[break]
