Softland has released version 4.3 of Backup4all. This program can back up to another location on the hard drive, a network drive, an ftp server -with support for ssl encryption, proxy servers and passive mode -, a CD or DVD, or an external drive such as a USB stick. The software is available in Lite, Standard and Professional flavors, with prices ranging from $20 to $45. The mutual differences are shown on this page extensively explained. In version 4.3 the following changes and improvements have been made:

New:

• Backup to SFTP was added
• Added a new option that lets you Backup all groups
• Option to split files larger than a specific size for FTP backups
• Select the scheduler priority
• Split the backup according to a number of files/folders
• Change the scheduler username and password for multiple jobs
• New option to “Store temporary catalog data in memory”
• “Minimize to tray when finished” added for backup on demand

Fixed:

• Pressing Cancel during the Clean operation is not possible anymore
• “Last Backup” and “Last backup status” from Brief view will be updated even if no files were backed up
• Cancel backup during catalog upload will not result in a corrupt catalog
• Test with warnings for Backup4all configurations plugin on Vista
• Index out of bounds during independent test for mirror
• Backup4all did not close after run for backups on demand
• Standalone scheduler fix (was not starting if application was not started)
• Backup open files on 64-bit OS
• Desktop.ini file was modified after backup on Windows 2008 R2
• The scheduled task was not created if switching to another application during setup
• Incorrect OTB device detection fixed
• Skipping files from disconnected source drives is faster
